A ferry, demonstration or positioning flight rarely stops where the maintenance is. A flying spanner — a licensed engineer who travels with the aircraft — removes that problem: the checks, the transit inspections and anything that comes up en route are handled by someone already on board, rather than by whoever happens to be available at the next station.
Spectrum Aviation Services provides this cover, and full technical support, through our sister company Spectrum Technics, an EASA Part-145 and Part-CAMO approved organisation. You deal with the same operations team that plans the flight; the certifying work sits with an approved maintenance organisation inside the same group.
It is scoped, quoted and invoiced as part of the operation — one Pro-Forma Invoice before departure, one detailed invoice on completion.

Daily and pre-departure inspections carried out at each stop of the route, so the aircraft is released on schedule rather than waiting on a local provider.
Defects raised in transit are troubleshot and cleared by the engineer travelling with the aircraft, keeping the trip moving.
Work is certified under Spectrum Technics' EASA Part-145 approval, with the paperwork raised correctly for the aircraft's register.
If the aircraft goes tech away from base, the same group that planned the flight mobilises the recovery — no second supplier to appoint mid-trip.
Parts, consumables and tooling identified in advance and carried or forwarded to the right station, coordinated with the flight plan.
Where the aircraft needs ongoing oversight, Spectrum Technics provides Part-CAMO management alongside the maintenance.
Aircraft type, registration, route and dates. We assess where technical cover is genuinely needed and where local support is sufficient.
Spectrum Technics assigns a licensed engineer with the right type authorisation, and we identify spares, tooling and station support in advance.
The engineer, their positioning and the technical cover appear in the same Pro-Forma Invoice as the flight — not as a separate contract.
The flying spanner flies with the crew, works each turnaround, and reports back through the same dispatch team following the flight.
Spectrum Technics holds CAMO and MRO approvals under EASA, GACA, the Cayman Islands and 2-REG, providing maintenance, continuing airworthiness, aircraft parking and storage, lease return support and technical asset management. It holds the approvals and employs the certifying engineers behind every flying spanner and technical support package Spectrum Aviation Services sells — which is why an aircraft on more than one of those registers can stay with the same group.
